The SANGOTeCH online technology donation and discount portal is a partnership between SANGONeT and TechSoup Global, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organisation that assists nonprofits globally to access technology to deepen the impact of their work.

TechSoup Global's mission is working toward a time when every nonprofit and NGO on the planet has the technology resources and knowledge they need to operate at their full potential. TechSoup Global and its NGO partners in more than 40 countries have already distributed more than 9 million technology products to more than 175 000 nonprofits, resulting in savings of more than $2.9 billion.

SANGOTeCH assists South African NGOs by providing software and hardware for very low or discounted fees in conjunction with ICT donor partners, as well as by supporting NGOs to maximise their ICT purchases and infrastructure. SANGOTeCH presents NGOs with an opportunity to access software and other ICT solutions at discounts of up to 95% of the retail value.

Since inception in December 2006, more than 1 000 South African NGOs have already benefitted from this service, resulting in savings of more than R130 million on hardware and software purchases for South African NGOs.

SANGOTeCH is open to South African non-profit organisations with formal non-profit status. In addition to meeting the general programme eligibility criteria, organisations also need to meet the specific requirements of each donor partner.

South Africa was the first developing country to benefit from TechSoup Global's support, and SANGONeT has already expanded this initiative to Botswana and Kenya, with other African countries to be added in future.

SANGONeT is also working on expanding the SANGOTeCH programme to include technology donations and offerings from other leading local and international technology companies.
