This 64-bit version operates on a computer with a 64-bit processor and 64-bit drivers.

This is an upgrade product. To install this operating system, you must have a licenced installation of one of the following operating systems on the device where you are installing the upgrade: Windows Vista Enterprise, Business, or Ultimate; Windows XP Professional or Tablet PC; Windows 2000 Professional; Windows NT Workstation 4.0; or Windows 98. For complete information, see PNGO PROGRAMME’s Windows 7 Upgrade Steps and Checklist.

Windows 7 Enterprise requires significant system resources, as detailed below. It is likely that PCs currently running an operating system older than Windows Vista might not be able to run Windows 7. For a good start on evaluating whether to upgrade, see PNGO PROGRAMME’s Should You Upgrade to Windows 7?.

A KMS key requires at least 25 computers on a network for activation. Organisations with fewer than 25 computers should request a MAK from the Volume Licencing website after receiving this product. For information about obtaining a MAK or deciding which type of key to use, see PNGO PROGRAMME’s Guide to Microsoft Volume Licencing Keys.

Description:

This product bundles Small Business Server 2011 Standard Edition and Small Business Server 2011 Premium Add-on together into a single product. It includes five client access licenses (CALs) for each, which can be used for either users or devices.

Small Business Server 2011 Standard Edition: Small Business Server 2011 Standard Edition provides small organizations with many of the features used by large organizations — folder and printer sharing, an email server, tools to manage Internet access, internal websites (intranets), remote access, support for mobile devices, and backup/restore tools — in an integrated product that supports up to 75 users.

Small Business Server 2011 is available only as a 64-bit operating system and can be installed only on a server with a 64-bit processor.

Remote Web Access gives any worker with a web browser secure access to email, internal websites, shared folders, organization and administration links, and networked computers. Access can be restricted by assignment to groups or roles. Windows Mobile–based devices can access e-mail, calendar, contacts, and tasks from the server.

The organization is protected from unauthorized users and data loss with:

  • Built-in firewall protection: Automatic data backup and the ability to retrieve and restore previous versions
  • Automated patch and update management tools keep the server and networked computers up-to-date. Administrators can set the level of automatic approval and the times at which updates occur.

Small Business Server's management console provides administrators with a set of tabs and wizards that lets them perform all necessary tasks. The console's Home window shows at a glance by green check or warning icons whether security, updates, backups, and other functions are OK or need attention.

Included Technologies: Small Business Server 2011 Standard combines these Windows server technologies:

  • The core Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard technologies, including network tools and network security; file, print, and application sharing; and firewall protection (but not including technologies appropriate only to medium-to-large enterprises)
  • Exchange Server 2010 Standard for email, messaging, personal information management, and shared calendaring
  • SharePoint Foundation 2010 for an internal website
  • SQL Server 2008 R2 Express for managing the data of the internal website
  • Server Update Services 3.0 for automated network-wide patch and update management

Small Business Server 2011 Premium Add-on: Small Business Server 2011 Premium Add-on supplements the technologies of Small Business Server 2011 Standard Edition. It is intended for small organizations that have limited IT resources but still need to run a large number of line-of-business applications. The add-on includes SQL Server 2008 R2 for Small Business plus a license for Windows Server 2008 R2 in addition to the one included in Small Business Server 2011 Standard Edition.

Licenses Included: This product includes two types of licenses:

  • A server license for both Small Business Server 2011 Standard and Small Business Server 2011 Premium Add-on
  • Five client access licenses (CALs) for each of the above that can be used for either users or devices

Description:

Communicator for Mac 2011 is a communications client that works in
conjunction with Office Communications Server. In one Communicator
Conversation window, users can talk to each other using instant
messaging (IM), voice, or video and can switch back and forth between
modes. In a user's list of contacts, each contact has a presence
button: green for available, yellow for away, or red for busy.
Communicator also adds presence buttons to other Office for Mac
applications like Outlook, and conversations can be started directly
from those applications.

Each contact in the list has a call button that can be clicked to call
the contact's default phone number. Contacts can be grouped, and users
can start conversations with an entire group at once. Contacts can
include users on federated networks — separate organizations
that are linked by using Office Communications Server.

Users of Communicator for Mac can have IM conversations with contacts
who use Communicator 2007 for Windows or public IM clients such as AOL
Instant Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, and Windows Live Messenger.

Communicator for Mac 2011 is also one of the applications included in
the Office for Mac 2011 Standard suite. The standalone edition of
Communicator for Mac is available only through Volume Licensing
programs, such as the one offered through SANGOTeCH.
