Lync Server Device CAL - Standard (Includes Software Assurance)

Microsoft Lync Server Standard Device Client Access Licence (CAL) supports the instant messaging, presence, and PC-to-PC audio and video communications capabilities of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 or Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 on one computer, regardless of the number of users (for example, on a shared workstation).

Additional licences are required for audio, video, and web conferencing, application sharing, and enterprise telephony capabilities.

A Microsoft Lync Server Enterprise Device CAL provides all but voice telephony features when used with Microsoft Lync Server 2010; voice telephony features require a Microsoft Lync Server Plus Device CAL. To enable all features in Microsoft Lync Server 2010, all three CALs (Microsoft Lync Server Standard Device CAL, Microsoft Lync Server Enterprise Device CAL and Microsoft Lync Server Plus Device CAL) are needed.

A Microsoft Lync Server Enterprise Device CAL provides all these capabilities when used with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2. To enable all features, both Microsoft Lync Server Standard Device CAL and Microsoft Lync Server Enterprise Device CALs are needed.

Microsoft Lync Server User CALs and Microsoft Lync Server External Connector licences are also available. A Microsoft Lync Server User CAL authorises one user to access Microsoft Lync Server 2010 or Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 from any device (for example, when an employee accesses the server from a computer at work and another at home). The External Connector licence allows any number of external users or devices to access a single installation of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 or Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

Software Assurance: Under the Software Assurance program, you have the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of your coverage.
