Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 provides comprehensive event and performance management, proactive monitoring and alerting, reporting and trend analysis, and system- and application-specific knowledge and tasks to improve the manageability of Windows-based servers and applications.

Service Pack 1 consolidates security enhancements and features, including broader OS and database support and the ability to run on and monitor x64 platforms

Microsoft Operations Management Server 2005 contains software for installation and deployment of most of these components but does not include the MOM Reporting Server, Reporting Database, or Reporting Console. An Operations Management License (OML) is required for each device managed by a MOM 2005 server. A device can be a single server, personal computer, workstation, terminal, handheld computer, pager, telephone, personal digital assistant, or another electronic device.

This product includes SQL Server 2000 Technology. SQL Server Technology acquired with this product can be used can only be used to support Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 and Systems Management Server 2003 activities.

Installing this product requires a license key and installation media. If you don’t already have it, please request the free installation media when prompted during checkout. No physical product will be sent unless you request the installation media. After your order is processed, instructions for obtaining the license key will be sent to your organization email address.

  • MOM’s retention of operational data in its own database gives analysts more time to diagnose and fix problems.
  • Administrators and operators define, export, import, and launch context-sensitive diagnostics and tasks, such as pinging a machine, flushing a DNS cache, or removing lingering objects from Active Directory. Tasks can run on the console, the MOM server, or an agent-managed device.
